Training Philosophy
Picture
Canine Character provides you with the guidance you need to create a rock-solid, problem-free partnership with your canine companion. We believe in teaching you to teach your dog; one of our primary goals is to give you the skills and knowledge you need to solve problems yourself.

At Canine Character, we are committed to using only gentle, dog-friendly techniques to solve even the most challenging behavior issues. Our philosophy is that training should be worthwhile and fun for both you and your dog. That's why we base our training and behavior modification programs in positive reinforcement methods. Does this mean that your dog will obey only when you have a food treat or only when he "feels like it"? Of course not! We combine an understanding of canine behavior with scientifically based training techniques to get results reliable enough for canine athletes, working dogs, and of course, family pets.

We don't make robots. Each dog is an individual, and discovering the unique personality within is what makes living with dogs so much fun. We purposely choose training methods that bring out the spark in your dog's personality. We teach you how to channel their exuberance into the behaviors you want instead of focusing on stopping unwanted behavior. The result is an incredible relationship between owner and dog.
