Canine Character's Group Classes

All our classes use gentle, dog-friendly training methods. (We like to think this makes our classes quite human-friendly too!) We reinforce (reward) good behavior so that our dogs choose to do what we want-- pretty neat, huh? We reduce problem behaviors by preventing the dog from doing what we don't want while we are teaching the dog what we do want. We also use clickers to speed along the learning process. Please stop by and watch a class to see our methods in action!

Classes are 7 weeks long (first class is without dogs) and each class lasts approximately 50 minutes. Limited to 5 dogs. Class fee includes a training starter kit with Good Manners Workbook, Premier Easy Walk harness, clicker & wristband, and treat pouch. Cost is $155.

Social Skills Class
Does your dog bark or lunge at other dogs while on walks? Is your dog nervous, stressed, or defensive when encountering new dogs, even from a distance? This highly structured class focuses on modifying reactive or inappropriate behavior toward other dogs. Students gain knowledge and skill in behavior modification techniques by working in short, positive sessions in a safe, controlled environment. Exposure and interaction between student dogs is gradually increased to prepare dogs for success in the real world. Dog friendly methods are used throughout. Class sessions are 5 weeks long; each session includes 75 minutes of group class weekly. Limited to 4 dogs. Prerequisite: permission of instructor (kim@caninecharacter.com). Cost is $130. Please note: The first night serves as an orientation and is held without the dogs.
